How to Block TikTok on iPhone

Set a TikTok time limit, block it during focus sessions, and cover the browser version too. A practical guide to the options on iPhone.

The quick answer

Use Screen Time App Limits for a daily TikTok allowance, or an Atten session or schedule for a specific break. Include the TikTok website in your plan and test both entry points. Silencing notifications alone does not prevent you from opening TikTok.

If opening TikTok has become the default whenever a task gets difficult, start with one clear boundary. Decide whether you want fewer minutes per day or no TikTok during a particular task. Those goals need different settings; a daily allowance can still be used during your work session.

Choose the rule that matches your day

  • A daily allowance: choose a usage limit when you still want occasional access.
  • A protected work period: choose a scheduled block for recurring work or study.
  • A break right now: start a focus session with a defined end.
  • Fewer interruptions: adjust notifications if opening the app is not the problem.

For example, you might keep TikTok available after dinner while blocking it during your first writing session. This is a starting example, not a recommended daily allowance for everyone.

Set a daily TikTok limit with Screen Time

  1. Open Settings → Screen Time. Enable App & Website Activity if needed.
  2. Open App Limits → Add Limit.
  3. Expand the category containing TikTok and select the app individually.
  4. Continue with Next, choose your allowance, and save it. Use Customize Days for different days.

Selecting a whole category may restrict apps you still need. Check the selection before saving. For a broader scheduled break, Screen Time also offers Downtime. Review Always Allowed so necessary apps remain available.

Apple notes that limits can be ignored by default. For scheduled Downtime, set a Screen Time passcode and enable Block at Downtime to block restricted apps instead of showing only a reminder. See Apple’s schedule instructions.

You can create a passcode under Lock Screen Time Settings. Keep a recovery method; do not deliberately lock yourself out of your Apple Account. A passcode you control is still a setting you can change, so test the actual experience rather than assuming the limit is permanent.

Check the TikTok website too

An app selection is not a complete checklist of every way you reach a service. Try opening TikTok’s website in your usual browser while your restriction is active. Also test a shared video link and any other browser you use.

For a standing website restriction, Apple lets you add specific URLs to Screen Time’s Never Allow list. Our iPhone website-blocking guide walks through the setup and its broader web-filtering effects. If you only want the website blocked during work, include it in your scheduled blocking routine instead.

Schedule a TikTok break with Atten

Atten supports app and website blocking, recurring schedules, daily limits, and focus sessions. Use it when you want to organize a routine around selected distractions. The goal is to make your chosen boundary convenient to repeat.

  1. Complete Atten’s setup and requested permissions.
  2. Select TikTok and include the website access you want to restrict.
  3. Choose a focus session for today or a recurring schedule for your usual work period.
  4. Start with a short test. Try TikTok, its website, and an app you need to keep available.

Before extending the schedule, check what happens when it ends and how planned breaks work. If you move straight to another feed, update the selection instead of extending a TikTok-only block. Apply the same app-and-website checklist to any other feeds you reach for.

Common questions

Does Focus or Do Not Disturb block TikTok?

No. Focus controls which notifications can interrupt you; it does not itself stop you opening TikTok. You can pair it with an access restriction. Check notification exceptions if alerts still arrive during your Focus.

Is removing TikTok from the Home Screen enough?

Apple’s Remove from Home Screen option keeps the app in App Library. Delete App removes it from the iPhone. Neither choice is a substitute for checking website access, and deleting an app is not the same as deleting its account.

Why can I still open it on another device?

Check that device’s rules and sync setup separately. For a Mac used alongside your phone, see Atten for Mac. Verify the block on each device you actually use.
